Why we use 20D Silpoly for our tarps
Our tarps are made from a high-quality, silicone-coated 20D polyester – in short: Silpoly . This material offers several crucial advantages over the classic silnylon used by many other manufacturers.
Silpoly retains its shape and doesn't warp even when wet, while silnylon tends to stretch when moist. This keeps the tarp taut, even in prolonged rain, without the need for readjustment.
Another advantage: Silpoly absorbs very little water . This means less weight in damp weather and significantly faster drying times – a noticeable difference, especially on longer tours.
Furthermore, Silpoly is more UV-resistant and withstands intense sunlight for longer. This extends the lifespan of your tarp, even with frequent use.
The material also impresses in terms of handling: It feels soft and pleasant, has a matte surface and remains quiet in the wind without any disturbing rustling.
In short: Silpoly is lightweight, reliable and durable – the perfect choice for a tarp that delivers on its promises in any weather.
THP Original Hex Tarp
The thp Original Hex Tarp offers reliable protection in all weather conditions – minimalist, robust, and meticulously designed. Its hexagonal shape provides optimal coverage with minimal weight. The 20D Silpoly fabric retains its shape even when wet, dries quickly, and is quieter in the wind than conventional materials.
All six guy-out points are carefully reinforced, hemmed, and additionally fitted with small, lightweight metal rings. This increases durability without adding weight or affecting handling. For a consistently taut setup, each guy-out point is equipped with a shock cord – ensuring your tarp stays perfectly tensioned even in wind and rain.
